I did track in high school, I wish we would have had this machine. I believe that when I get my own home, this will be a nice addition to my personal gym.

Oh this would definitely make an excellent edition to your home gym, if not the main attraction

That is a cool Elliptical machine literally (pun intended). It has all the fun gadgets and amazing technology. I used an older version in a gym before and it was very effective. I love the life tracks google map option. It gives you an interesting virtual experience. Thank you for the informative review. I shall definitely keep this machine in mind for my next exercise equipment purchase.

I’m glad you found this review helpful and I’m sure it will make a nice edition to your home when you are ready to get a new piece of training equipment

Who doesn’t want stronger legs!! I know I sure do and appreciate the kick ass review on this piece of equipment!! I hate the treadmill and most definitely like the idea of an elliptical but it can be very overwhelming going to browse at your local fitness shop and being bombarded by pushy salesmen looking to make a quick buck by trying to sell you the most expensive machine! I love the features of this eliptical! Thanks again for the info!

Reply

H that’s the worst isn’t it! All you want to do is browse at your own leisure but you always get some salesman come up to you which just drives you out of the store!

Nice post here, I agree that lower body strength is vital for peek performance in any sport. Will you be writing something on core strength in the near future. Looking forward to it. Thanks.

I have some ideas about core strength that I would like to get out there so keep dropping by to check

The Nordic Trac looks amazing. I definitely make exercise a part of my daily life. I try to get 60-90 minutes of exercise each day. I have an elliptical machine. I know this machine would be even better.

It really is a brilliant piece of exercising machine, The workout that you get from it is awesome I have to say

I have an elliptical as well as a treadmill. However, they are a bit old and are lacking all the good technology that this one has. Yes, they get the job done. However, Now I am really looking at replacing them. Thanks for this review.

You will be getting the best of both with this machine so you could sell both your elliptical and treadmill and use the money to buy one of these bad boys 😉

Hi Shwni,

I liked your logical progression in your post about strengthening your legs. There are some who are not athletes but still wish to work on our leg strength, so good information.

You provided really good selling points on the machine. I think that providing the cost will eliminate people who couldn’t or wouldn’t make that kind of investment. You will only have to deal with people who can “step up” (pun intended) and purchase this wonderful workout equipment.

Thanks Betty, Yes, This machine is not just for rugby players. It will benefit anybody that wants to strengthen their legs. If you are unsure if you can use it then I would advise that you check with your doctor first to see if you would be ok to use it. Thanks for dropping by 🙂

I’ve had an interest in these Elliptical Machines recently due to my knees aching after running – I’m a road runner and my knees are starting to give a little, no matter what footwear I choose to run in.

I’m wondering what the Elliptical Machines are like for this type of knee pain – are they known for being a lot less ‘impact’ on the knee areas when compared to cardio through running?

Reply
Shwni

Cardio running is what the Elliptical specialises in so this would be perfect for you

Hi Nick,

Interesting I have a home gym and I’ve always been a fan of using a cross/ elliptical trainer but they take up quite a bit of room which has always posed a problem, with these devices being half the size of a standard elliptical trainer this might be ideal, looks like it has a high quality interactive monitor as well and I’m a big fan of the google maps. Do you know if they ae easy to purchase/ import to the Uk?

Reply
Shwni

The NordicTrack company is from the UK so no worries about placing the order

My parents have one of these in their basement and when I’m over on the weekends and the weather isn’t complying, I always hop on these things for about 45 minutes. I love how you can set them to any given intensity level, whether lower in intensity for the beginner, or something that resembles a HIIT workout, which I’m a big fan of. My dad actually offered to give it to me but since I live in an apartment and five minutes away from my gym, there’s no need just yet. However, in the future, I’d love to get hooked up with a NordicTrack, as they’re the best elliptical brand on the market when put up against others like Cybex, Precor, and Life Fitness, to name a few.

The nordictrack elliptical would be a great addition to any home gym or any home for that matter

Hey

I was great at playing Tennis. Needed strong legs to run around the court. The A.C.T. Commercial 7 seems a great option at this price point. Also, I believe it will be worth the money invested if one uses it to the full potential. The features are definitely attractive, specially the blow fan which changes its speed according to the speed.

Thanks for sharing, I might consider it sometime soon.

Shwni

My pleasure, good luck with the Tennis 🙂

Hello Shwni,

A good friend of mine has an elliptical in his home gym, and I’ve been thinking about getting one myself.

The price was OK for me, but shown in British pounds, so I’m not sure I could get that shipped at a good price to Canada. Actually, they seem to deliver only to the UK and Ireland.

I suppose I’ll be better with one of our American manufacturers… but the Nordic Track looks like a really good one though… what do you think? Cheers, Phil

NordicTrack do have an American and Canadian website so it wouldn’t be a problem if you wanted to order anything

Being fit worth more than anything. My nature of work gave me opportunity to watch out for exercise that is best for me. I’m a fork that sit for so long at work and enjoy spending my weekend morning at the gym. Elliptical machine is one those equipments I enjoy using though it is a bit older. I’m looking out to include it into my gym equipment anytime I pack to my new home. This review will be of help.

This is interesting, because I have an older NordicTrack elliptical. I love it! It’s definitely bigger and heavier than these, but it still takes up less space than a treadmill. What’s great is that you get more of a whole-body workout, as opposed to just your legs, as long as you’re using the handles. Mine doesn’t have adjustable pedals, but the console looks familiar enough. I might even upgrade it in a couple years, although this one’s still going strong. Nice to see their newer offerings, for sure! Thanks for sharing!

What a coincidence my daughter plays rugby. She is one of the wings in the back. She could definitely use a NordicTrack Elliptical machine to help strengthen her legs.

She also plays basketball and I know rugby and basketball crossover really well. I also like that you can adjust the settings which are in tune with your body.

At one time elliptical machines used to be a huge, so it’s nice that this elliptical machine is half the size which means it will take up less room if I were to buy it. Great review, thank you.

Reply
Shwni

Thanks again Jag, this NordicTrack elliptical Machine will certainly do wonders for your daughter’s leg strength in both Rugby and Basketball 🙂

This is undoubtedly the best piece of equipment in the gym. I love it… it gives me the total workout I need so much so that I even bought one for my home gym. Having weak knees through decades of running I now find this sort of machine ideal as it is very easy on my knee joints, I would totally recommend getting one of these for your home gym too.

Reply
Shwni

Yes, the NordicTrack Ski Machine is very easy on your knee joints as the motion it has is a nice easy glide. I’m glad it’s working out for you 🙂

Thanks for this awesome article. I agree with you that most newbies (yours truly included) completely forget the importance of strength training especially lower body. Loved how you explained the benefits of the machine and why I need it. For all the features this machine is very compact and would fit nicely into my fitness corner.

I think my treadmill will finally get a long overdue companion.

Cheers

Hahaha I have skinny legs (genetics)……
I am slowly getting back into an exercise routine after a long pause to tend to my health. At heart I am a runner but my time in the military put some strain on my knees (cartilage) so no more running. My question; considering my knees, which is a better option for cardio, stationary bike, or elliptical? Thank you for your time.

Reply
Shwni

First of all, thank you for your service!

Secondly, if you having trouble with your knees then you should keep your exercises as smooth and comfortable as you can so both of these will put more stress on your knee cartilages but there is a Ski Machine that I always recommend to people with the same problems, You should give it a try.
